Dr. Karpovck is a dual specialist.  He holds specialty certification in maxillofacial surgery procedures and facial rejuvenation techniques.  In these specialized fields of medicine, Dr. Karpovck evaluates and treats patients requiring dental and facial management, oral surgery, implantology, surgical correction of jaw deformities, and impacted wisdom teeth.  He also has additional skills in the correction of facial fractures, TMJ surgery, complex extractions, and reconstructive surgery of the face and jaws.

Dr. Karpovck began his training at the University of Detroit, where he graduated with honors from the Bachelor of Arts program in 1980. He then received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and trained over four years extensively in all aspects of dentistry as well as implantology. Starting in 1984, Dr. Karpovck spent four years at Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, and received his certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. During those four years, he trained extensively in all phases of maxillofacial surgery including reconstruction of the jaws, oral pathology, surgical correction of facial deformities and plastic surgery.

The following two years, during 1988-1990, Dr. Karpovck refined his skills in the surgical correction of jaw deformities. This involved reconstruction of the jaws, such as cleft lip and cleft palate patients, and procedures to correct the deficient growth of the jaws. The added certificate in orthodontics received from Louisiana State Medical Center gave Dr. Karpovck the insight to correct abnormal growth of the jaws through surgery and orthodontic appliances. This is especially beneficial to younger age groups in the modification of abnormal growth of the jaws. Orthodontics gave greater insight in the surgical modification of abnormal growth at an early age.

Dr. Karpovck was the recipient of several honors during his academic career, and he has been involved in a variety of research projects concerning temporomandibular joint disorders and the placement of bone grafts for reconstruction of the jaws. He has contributed to the education of fellow colleagues through training in oral implantology and maxillofacial cosmetic procedures. He is certified by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a continuing member of that association. He also is certified by the American Association of Orthodontists.
